They’ve only gone and done it….

Broadband from Sky. Ranging from free to about £17 a month. Unfortunately, it seems they don't have their equipment in my area yet, but they plan to by the end of the year. Fortunately for me, I'm only on a 1 month contract, so I can switch once they cover my area.

This looks like it will save me about £11 a month on my broadband, which is pretty cool, plus you get a free wireless router !! I guess I'll have to wait a few months, but it's exciting all the same.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a new PC for home, as the old one was only ever meant to be a stopgap till I could afford a 'better' machine. However, the wife has vetoed that, so it doesn't look very likely for now.

  3. Hey glad you didn't get yourself tied into a long contract as I thought Sky'd package would meet your needs. They need to unbundle your exchange before they can offer to you though which could take them a significant amount of time so I wouldn't hold your breath. It does mean if your exchange isn't hot on the unbundling list you may have limited options anyway. What did you settle for in the end?

  5. Experience is teaching me that any computer can become a better machine if you keep buying new bits for it. You could get yourself half a new computer...

  7. LOL....as per the wife, no comment !! Yes, she has me under her thumb, but I've learnt one thing over the last few months, you never, never, NEVER cross a pregnant woman. She can NEVER be wrong, no matter what.

Katherine, I replied to the mail you sent from your work address, but it didn't go? Anyway, I went with Plus.net in the end. Still not working though, as BT has 'run out' of ADSL equipment at my exchange, so I've been put on hold for a few weeks. As for Sky, I don't know when they plan to unbundle my exchange, but whenever they do, I'll be crossing over to them !!

  11. Yay! Good for you.
I wish I had such good news to share about the joys of internet access for the common Nigerian, Starcomms claims to have a mobile broadband service, haven't heard any rave reviews as yet.

Which reminds me, I should do them an email and find out what they have to say.

Good to know she's keeping you in check :) but like Scary Rod said, get yourself half a new computer, you can convine her about how much savings you're making.
