At first glance, I have to eat humble pie and admit that the
Playstation 3 looks like it's better than the Xbox 360. The processor
runs more than twice as fast !! Here is a short list of pros and
Xbox Live is already esthablished, so online gaming will be a distinct advantage.
The Hard drive comes as standard.
Will be released in November 2005. From the keynote speech, they will release it in Europe, USA and Japan simultaneously.
Has a better processor.
I prefer the bluetooth technology used for the control pads, as I've
had problems with wireless control pads interfering with my Wi-Fi
The HDTV is slighty better than the Xbox 360.
It support Blu-Ray Technology, which is not even available yet !!
The LAN port can go up to 1Gbps
If I have to choose now, I'd pick the PS3. However, I'm not sure how
good online play is with playstation, unlike Xbox where Microsoft hosts
the online games, with Playstation, I think the games are hosted by the
actual publishers, but I'm not sure. It has much better graphics
capabilities, and has a lot more titles available.
But it's not available in the US till Spring 2006, and God knows when it will come to Europe.
Xbox is being backed by a massive marketing campaign, including last
week's unveiling on MTV. However, most neutral media sources said the
MTV show was terrible, and that even the keynote address at E3 was like
a business presentation.
Let battle commence !!
