Went to my cousins place for a BBQ today. They are twins, and it's their birthday in a couple of days, so they decided to use the bank holiday as an excuse to party.
They told me to get their for 3pm, and I did. I was the first person there. Then we had this conversation:
"B, have you ever done a BBQ before"
"Are you a quick learner"
Before I knew it, I was hauling a large sack of Charcoal, experimenting with lighter fluid, and basically getting smoke and ash into my eyes. I was working constantly for over 5 hours, roasting chicken, prawns, salmon, plantian, all sorts.
No I'm smelling of smoke, and long hot shower hasn't solved that problem. My feet are aching from standing on them for so long. But I have to say I had fun, met a lot of people I hadn't seen in a while, and had good chats with them all.
And now, I can proudly say that I can add BBQ skills to my ever growing repertoire.
