Liverpool beat Southampton to knock up three wins in a row. It's been a really odd time for the Reds, the wins over Arsenal and Olympiakos were overshadowed by defeat to Everton and a couple of draws, but it seems the Reds are back on track now.
Stevie 'Wonder' Gerrard put in another man of the match performance, and has signalled that he doesn't intend to leave Merseyside in a hurry. Chelsea have got their fangs out, but it seems Stevie is going, at least the way he is playing, he's not planning on jumping ship just yet !!
Next match Chelsea. I can't wait. It will be a tough one, but I think we may be able to grind out a result. That is definately the match of the day on the 1st of January !!
Talking about the transfer window, it is no longer a secret that we need a striker. Morientes seems to be a likely target, and Anelka as well. It's a tough choice, Anelka will still be eligible to play Champions League, while Morientes, as good as he is, will not. And I think we still have a chance of doing well in the Champions League if we can get our act together. However, Anelka comes with too much baggage. He has been trouble for almost every club he's played for. And there must have been a reason why Houllier decided not to sign him before.
My suggestion (as insignificant and unimportant as it is !!) would be that Liverpool should try and sign James Beattie. The Southampton striker seems set to leave the South Coast, and Aston Villa and Newcastle are ready for a bidding war. I've been a long-time admirer of the lad, and I think he will fit into the Liverpool team just perfectly. Newcastle may be able to out bid us, but if asked, I suspect he'd prefer to play for Liverpool ;)
Anyway, time for me to go the bed. The mighty Reds are ready to tear Chelsea APART.........
