Here we go…….

First of all, the mighty Italians were knocked out. They managed to keep their end of the bargain by beating Bulgaria, only to discover that the only result that would guarantee them being eliminated (Denmark and Sweden drawing 2-2). They were devasted, and Trappatoni looks set to lose his job. They're pretty upset and are convinced that Sweden and Denmark conived to end at that score. UEFA has said they will not investigate. Having seen the highlights, I think I'll go with UEFA on this one.

So Spain is out, Italy is out....and now? Germany. I have earlier said that I don't think they have a good squad. Well, this was confirmed yesterday when they lost to a Czech Republic 'Team B". Voeller has resigned, but I think that it will be a while before we see Germany challenging for any major titles, they don't have any top class strikers !! In the other game, Holland beat Latvia 3-0 to advance.........which I think means the top 2 teams in this group have made it. So the 1/4 finals look like this:

Thursday 24 June 19:45, QF1
Portugal v England

Luz, Lisbon

Friday 25 June 19:45
France v Greece

Jose Alvalade, Lisbon

Saturday 26 June 19:45, QF3
Sweden v Holland

Sunday 27 June 19:45, QF4
Czech Rep v Denmark

Dragao, Porto

In other news, the premiership fixtures have been released. Chelsea's season starts with a bang, with them hosting Man. Utd. Arsenal go down to Everton, while Liverpool plays Totenham.
