Weekend Review

This weekend's football has made some people happy, while some have ended up crying. The race for relegation is all but over, but the competition for European places is getting hotter and hotter.

Man City did all the 4th place chasers a MASSIVE favour by beating Newcastle 1-0. But that win for them meant that Leciester City and Wolves were definately going to be relegated regardless of whatever results they obtained. Leeds lost 4-1 to Bolton on Sunday, condemning them to Division One football. It's a sad, sad decline considering that 3 years ago, they were involved in the Champions League semi-finals with Real Madrid! But problems on and off the pitch have seen some of their best players leave, and the team has crashed out of the premiership after 14 years. Alan Smith, Mark Viduka, Nick Barmby, Paul Robinson, James Milner, all their remaining star players look set to leave, as the club tried to slash their wage bill, and make some money from selling them off.

In the race for 2nd place and Automatic Champions League, Chelsea flogged Southampton 4-0, and Man. U. seems to have forgotten how to win, as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Blackburn. Chelsea looks set to retain 2nd place, as far as I'm concerned.

In an exciting match Liverpool beat Boro 2-0. The first goal was a penalty, after Owen was brought down in the box. Danny Murphy put it away for the second time this week, and after 4 hours of play at Anfield, Liverpool had finally scored a goal!! Heskey put in the second goal, after a wonderful touch from Owen. Liverpool held on for the win, and 4th place. Villa heated up the race by beating Totenham, and they are now 5th, a point behind L'pool. Newcastle are 3 points behind Liverpool, but they have a game in hand.

With 2 games to go, anything can still happen !!!!!
